The Standard Industry Classification (SIC) Code is 1522, General Contractors -- Residential Buildings, Other Than Single-Family and the SIC size is $17.0 million. The work includes Renovate existing dormitory, accommodating 206 persons in 206 sleeping rooms with accompanying common areas. Existing Dormitory Building Area: 7,590 square meters; Existing Commons Building Area: 274 square meters; and New Commons Addition Area: 510 square meters. This project is located centrally at the base and within walking distance to the chapel, base library, and dining hall. The existing commons building will be internally reorganized and a new metal roof added to match the new roof currently being constructed on Building 1600. A new one-story commons addition will be constructed to support laundry and storage functions.The estimated cost range is between $5 million and $6 million dollars. Plans and specifications will be made available on or about 1 May 1997. The projected bid opening date is 31 May 1997. There is a non-refundagle charge of $110 per solicitation package required and checks should be made out to "U.S. Treasurer c/o EFA Chesapeake" and either submitted in writing to Contracting Officer, Engineering Field Activity Chesapeake, 901 M Street, S.E., Building 212, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC 20374-5018 or in person at the same address.
