The National Science Foundation intends to award a sole source database product called "The Science Citation Index on CD ROM." This data product provides direct access to all relevant bibiliographic data found in 3,300 scientific and technical journals. The Science Citation Index is a cross-disciplinary bibliographic database in the sciences including research abstracts and author addresses or institutional affiliation as well as access by cited references. The proposed acquisition is 100% set aside for small business concerns. This acquisition falls under the Simplified Acquisition threshold, therefore, response time as determined by the Contracting Officer shall not be more than 10 days from the date of this publication. Quotations shall be solicited for the "Science Citation Index on CD ROM with Abstracts, 1997" (brand name product). The proposed contract action is for a brand name product for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 10 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination to provide for an equal product based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement on a "brand name or equal basis." (0091)
