COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 3,1997 PSA#1816US International Trade Commission, 500 E Street, SW, Washington, DC
20436 R -- REPORT CONVERSION SERVICES FOR POSTING ON WEB SITE DUE 041597 POC
Debi Kearns, Contract Specialist, (202) 205-2736. This is a REQUEST FOR
INFORMATION (RFI) synopsis. The U.S. International Trade Commission
provides the following information to do a MARKET RESEARCH in order to
identify sources who possess the capability and experience related to
the following service. THIS IS NOT AN INDICATION THE USITC INTENDS TO
CONTRACT FOR THIS SERVICE. A formal solicitation does not exist at
this time. This survey is for information only and does not constitute
an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposal and is not to be
construed as a commitment by the Government. This US International
Trade Commission is seeking information on sources and capabilities for
the tasks of converting investigation reports to a format suitable for
posting on a Web site. The reports average about 100 pages, and are
currently produced largely in WordPerfect format, but incorporate
tables from Lotus 1-2-3 or other software, and minor hardcopy (e.g., a
photocopy of a Federal Register notice as an appendix to the report.)
Typically, the ITC issues about 50 reports a year. The ITC requires a
turnaround time of 24 hours (1 workday) for delivery of the coverted
documents. The ITC requires the conversion to be checked for quality
and that errors not be intoduced during conversion. The ITC is in the
process of reviewing options for Web-based formats. The ITC is
considering HTML with, for example, a hypertext table of contents,
downloadable digital documents (i.e., Wordperfect), or PDF based on
scanning in the final printed report. The USITC's Web site is currently
maintained in-house and may be viewed at www.usitc.gov. Information
requested includes (1) a brief summary of experience in similar work,
(2) standard services that most closely fit this requirement, (3)
references from past or present customers for similar work, and (4)
size of business. Submission will be accepted in writing only. The ITC
will accept no telephonic information. Mail information to: Ms. Debi
Kearns, US International Trade Commission, Procurement Division, Room
413, 500 E Street, SW, Washington, DC 20436. See Numbered Note(s): 25.
