Office, Contracts & Purchases Branch, 255 East Paces Ferry Rd, N.E, Rm
419, Atlanta, GA 30305 66 -- PROVIDE VA-OP1 OPUS-2 DATA SYSTEMS UPGRADE AND F-DEC22B OPUS MS
DATA SYSTEM HARDWARE TO BE USED TO UPGRADE AND EXISTING 70S MASS
SPECTROMETER SOL 97-89 DUE 042297 POC Richard E. Lee, Contract
Specialist The Solicitation number for this requirement is 97-89. The
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to issue a Sole
Source Purchase Order to Micromass Inc., 100 Cummings Center, Suite
407N, Beverly, MA 01915, for the purchase and installation of one
VA-OP1 OPUS-2 Data System Upgrade and one F-DEC22B OPUS MS Data System
Hardware. A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ITEMS TO BE
ACQUIRED: One (1) each VA-OP1 OPUS-2 Data System Upgrade and one (1)
each F-DEC22B OPUS MS Data System Hardware, to be used in the upgrade
of an existing Model 70S Mass Spectrometer. The successful
supplier/installer for this upgrade must utilize STATE OF THE ART
hardware and software, which will allow the CDC's existing Mass
Spectrometer to control and process data from the V.G. Mass
Spectrometer. While the complete specification requirements for this
up-grade are too voluminous to include in this announcement, at a
minimum the upgraded system must have a 16-bit A/D converter operating
at a sampling rate of 400 Khz (2.5 msec) to ensure high dynamic signal
range and accurate centroiding of data under fast scanning conditions.
A theoretical maximum within-scan dynamic range of greater than 106:1
must be provided by the data acquisition electronics. Also, the
upgraded system must incorporate a 64-bit data highway for transfer of
summed and filtered samples, provided to ensure no loss of precision
in the measurement of peak intensity. As for the Data System, the
Government will only accept the latest version of the Mass Spectrometer
Up-grade. In addition to the above, the Data System must include a
64-bit graphics workstation with multitasking capability with a minimum
processing speed of 210 SPECfp92's, the CPU must have a minimum of
64-MByte RAM, with an option to expand to 256 Megabytes or greater,
have a high resolution color display monitor with a minimum screen size
of 21" and a resolution of 1280 x 1024, must have a minimum of 3.1
gigabytes of internal Winchester hard disk drive capacity with an
optional up-grade to 4.2 gigabytes of internal disk drive capacity,
have a magnetic DAT tape data archival system with 8.0 gigabyte
capacity with an optional optical disk drives of 1.3-GByte capacity
must be available, must be equipped with Ethernet and DECnet
communications hardware and software, be equipped with a Postscript
protocol laser printer/plotter with a minimum of 8 pages/min print
speed, 600 dpi print resolution and 7 megabytes of RAM. All interested
parties may identify their interest, by submitting an accurate
description of the equipment offered, along with certification that the
hardware provided is compatibility with the CDC's Mass Spectrometer
being up-graded, and certification that the equipment offered meets or
exceeds the salient characteristics noted above. Only responses
containing this data will be considered for the purpose of determining
whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. If no responses
containing the required technical data is received within 15 days from
publication of this notice, a purchase order will be issued to
Micromass Inc. for this requirement. Submit response to this notice to:
Contracting Officer, Construction and Commodities Section, Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, Attn.: Richard E. Lee, 255 East Paces
Ferry Road, NE, Rm. 419, Atlanta, GA 30305, Responses may be submitted
on letterhead stationery and, at a minimum, must show: (1) The
solicitation number (97-89); (2)The name, address, and telephone number
of the offeror; (3) A technical description of the items being offered
in sufficient detail to evaluate compliance with the requirement.
Responses may include product literature, or other documents, if
necessary, showing; (4) Terms of any express warranty; (5) Past
performance information, when included as an evaluation factor, to
include recent and relevant contracts for the same or similar items and
other references (including contract numbers, points of contact with
telephone numbers and other relevant information). A complete
solicitation package containing all technical data and material
requirements can be obtained from Richard E. Lee at (404)842-6571. All
responsible sources may submit an offer. No telephonic requests for
the solicitation package will be accepted. (0092) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0255 19970404\66-0005.SOL)
