The United States Department of Agriculture, (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, (APHIS), Field Servicing Office (FSO) is conducting market research on behalf of the Grain Inspection, (GIPSA), for a fully automated version of the current approved official grain test weight apparatus. The current approved apparatus consists of filling hopper (Seedburo #151) and a kettle (Seedburo #204). GIPSA anticipates approving and standardizing on a fully automated version of the apparatus for automated official test weight determinations in export grain inspection facilities. Consideration on whether to proceed with a procurement of a fully automated version of the apparatus for some non-export official laboratories depends on whether it represents a greater value for the government than continued use of the approved manual method.
