F -- DECOMMISSION ROAD 5N04 ON THE LOWER TRINITY RD, SIX RIVERS NATIONAL FOREST SOL R5-08-97-13 DUE 052197 POC Pamela Ockerman, Contracting Officer (916) 934-3316 This project requires furnishing all labor, equipment, material, tools, supervision and transportation for the decommissioning of 4.2 miles of forest road 5N04, 0.5 miles of forest road 5N05 and 0.3 miles of nonsystem spur road. Decommissioning of road 5N04 shall include the clearing of vegetation, excavation of road fills at culvert removal sites, removal and disposal of culverts, shaping of channel side slopes, restoration of channels, construction of drainage dips, ripping the roadway and landings, outsloping specified areas, disposal of excess excavation at waste sites, barricading two road intersections and the placement of straw mulch. Decommissioning of road 5N05 shall include removal of one culvert, excavation of the fill, shaping and restoration of the channel, and reinstallation of water bars. Decommissioning of the nonsystem spur road shall include the construction of five drivable drainage dips. Contract time is 120 days. The project area of road 5N04 is divided into two separate project areas. To access the northern portion of the project from Arcata, CA, travel east on Hwy 299 for approximately 39 miles to Friday Ridge Road (County Road 8L100); travel on Friday Ridge Road approximately 1 mile to forest road 6N06 (Forest Route 6); travel on road 6N06 approximately 10 miles to forest road 5N01; travel approximately 0.5 miles to the intersection of road 5N04. To access the southern portion of the project from Arcata, CA, travel approximately 28 miles on Hwy 299 to Berry Summit; travel south approximately 12.5 miles to County Road 7K100 (Forest Route 1) to road 5N04 at Grouse Mountain; travel approximately 4 miles on road 5N04 to the beginning of the southern portion of the project. This project was previously advertised 10/96 as solicitation number R5-10-97-01 "Decommission Road 5N04". Those who have responded to this previous advertisement shall be placed on the bidder's list for this solicitation and need not respond. Estimated issue date is 21 April 97 with an estimated bid opening date of 21May 97. Estimated start work date is 10 June 97.
