This procurement has been set-aside for 100% small business participation in accordance with FAR 19.502-2(a). SIC Code is 2819. The small business size standard is less than 1000 employees. The Government desires to trade in its current Immunostainer (purchased in 1994) for credit toward the price of the new immunostainer. Salient characteristics of the DAKO Autostainer include: runs at room temperature (no heat required); multiple programs can run simultaneously; separates hazardous waste from non-hazardous waste; operated by a PC that is separate from the instrument; 48 slide capacity; amount of reagent used is adjustable for each slide; instrument is password protected; reports are generated on plain paper and include a)Slide layout map b)Reagent layout map, c)Immunohistochemical report(includes antibodies used in run, their protocols & expiration dates), d)Run report -- includes patient information, antibodies used; protocol for each antibody and the staining times for each slide. The resulting contract will be for a period of a base year with two option years. Approximate issue date for the solicitation is April 10, 1997.
