Nelson 612-725-2189 Under authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), the
Government anticipates entering into sole source procurement with
Hewlett Packard Company, St Louis, MO for maintenance (SIC 7699) of
existing Clinical Information System (CIS) consisting of hardware of
approximately 830 pieces of equipment, i.e., transducers, printers,
monitors, transmitters, receivers, bedside recorders,, pressure
modules, display controls/units, monitors/terminals, workstations,
Carevue Primary System, Carevue Secondary System, carts, cabinets, and
software programs. Provide complete operations and repair coverage;
on-site repair coverage, all labor and parts, travel; 24-hour,
7-days/week coverage; provide the hardware repair and restoration of
standard HP factory-released software to sustain system operation;
telephone assistance toll-free to assist with questions on basic system
operating procedures, identifying problems, and resolve system failures
with work-arounds if possible; provide preventive maintenance as
necessary by cleaning, lubricating, and testing procedures designed to
reduce system failures; respond within 2 hours with a telephone
response; within 4 hours with on-site coverage. The above authority is
cited and justification made based on the determination that the
Government's minimum needs can best be satisfied by services available
from one source. This contract action is for services for which the
Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under
FAR 6.302 and under Commercial Item Acquisition, FAR Part 12.
Interested persons may identify their capability to respond to this
requirement or to submit proposals by April 18, 1997. This notice of
intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all
proposals received on or before April 18 will be considered by the
Government. A determination by the Government not to open the
requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is
solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as
a result of the notice of intent willnormally be considered solely for
the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive
