COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 9,1997 PSA#1820U.S. Geological Survey, Branch Of Acquisition and Federal Assistance,
Box 25046, Denver Federal Center, Denver, CO 80225-0046 58 -- RADIO TRANSMITTES DUE 042197 POC Jo Ann Arline -- MS 286,
Contracting Officer, (415) 329-4171 E-MAIL: USGS, WR, ACQUISTION &
FEDERAL ASSITANCE, jaarline@usgs.gov. The U. S. Geological Survey
(USGS) Menlo Park, California intends to place on a sole-source basis
a purchase order with Advanced Telemetry Systems, Inc of Isanti,
Minnesota for miniature depth-reporting transmitters. The product
technical features required are as follows: 148.000 to 151.900
megahertz; sixe 23 millimeters length x 7 millimeters diameter; weight
2.2 grams in air; signal output 3.3 volts; expected life 10 days at
0-meter depth and 5 days at 10-meter depth; 17.6 meter (25 psi) depth
range in fresh water; resolution 1% of full scale; accuracy + -- 2%
full scale. Changes in depth indicated by increasing pulse rate from
approximately 30 pulses per minute at 0-meter depth to 60 pulses per
minute at 17.6 meter depth. The deveice must be potted in a material
that is non-reactive with fish tissues and keeps the tranmitter
waterproof at a pressure of 17.6 meters of fresh water (25 psi). The
transmitters are used in conducting research on juvenile salmon
behavior. Transmitters larger than the size specified are unsuitable
for the USGS needs due to the small size of the juvenile salmon. No RFQ
will be issued for this solicitation. Award will be made before the 15
days due to the biological clock of the endangered salmon which are
anticipated to migrate earlier that usual this spring due to a higher
than average rainfall. (0097) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0209 19970409\58-0007.SOL)
