E-MAIL: Lynn Salo, SaloL@HD01.nichd.nih.gov. The National Institute of
Child Health and Human Development plans to participate in an
international school-based study of health behaviors in adolescents. A
representative U.S. school-based sample of adolescents at average ages
of 11.5, 13.5 and 15.5 years is needed to participate in the
international study. Over sampling for African-American and Hispanic
adolescents will be required. The survey should include those students
present at school at the time of the survey to be conducted during one
class period during the 1997-98 school years. The sample design should
result in estimates representing 95% of total U.S. students with 95%
confidence limits and with 90% confidence limits for African-American
and Hispanic students. A questionnaire standardized to conform to the
protocol of the World Health Organization (WHO) study on Health
Behaviors in School Children will be used in the school-based survey.
This RFP is a new acquisition. The release of the RFP will be on or
about April 24, 1997, and the proposals will be due 60 days after the
