The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development plans to participate in an international school-based study of health behaviors in adolescents. A representative U.S. school-based sample of adolescents at average ages of 11.5, 13.5 and 15.5 years is needed to participate in the international study. Over sampling for African-American and Hispanic adolescents will be required. The survey should include those students present at school at the time of the survey to be conducted during one class period during the 1997-98 school years. The sample design should result in estimates representing 95% of total U.S. students with 95% confidence limits and with 90% confidence limits for African-American and Hispanic students. A questionnaire standardized to conform to the protocol of the World Health Organization (WHO) study on Health Behaviors in School Children will be used in the school-based survey. This RFP is a new acquisition. The release of the RFP will be on or about April 24, 1997, and the proposals will be due 60 days after the issuance of the RFP on or about June 24, 1997. All requests must cite the RFP number and include two self addressed mailing labels. All sources who consider themselves qualified are encouraged to submit a proposal.
