CATALOG SYSTEM FOR THE NCRR/NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH LIBRARY SOL NHLBI-RR-P-97-109 DUE 062797 POC Christopher Belt, Contract Specialist, (301)435-0358, Fax number (301)480-3345 NIH intends to procure on a sole source basis to Innovative Interfaces, Inc., 2344 Sixth Street, Berkley, California, 94710, for the maintenance on hardware and software used for the Innovative Interfaces catalog system and related modules. Specifically, the contractor shall provide maintenance (labor and parts) for the Innovative Interfaces, Inc. catalog system and related modules. Only manufacturer authorized replacement parts will be used for maintenance and repair of hardware. Upgrades (improvem ents in the software which relate to operating performance but do not change the basic function of the system) to the system software shall be installed as necessary. The period of performance shall be for one twelve (12) month period, with options to renew for four (4) successive twelve (12) month periods. It is believed that Innovative Interfaces, Inc. is the sole source for this requirement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 because of the following: Because of the proprietary nature of this system dev eloped by Innovative Interfaces, Inc., they are the only source able to maintain the system. The software is proprietary, and cannot be modified by any outside source including the library. In addition, most of the equipment has been modified to work with the Innovative system. Therefore, only Innovative Interfaces, Inc. can continue to operate and provide maintenance for the present system. The industrial classification code (SIC) 7378, size standard $18M, will be used for this requirement. Any compet ing firm that believes it is capable of providing the above requirement is invited to provide sufficient documentation to demonstrate that capability to the contract specialist.
