Work includes removing the lanternhouse in its entirety and transporting to sandblast facility. Sandblast and paint lanternhouse, replace astragals and windows. Remove existing decking on light tower and replace with new decking, roofing system, and fascia board. Replace newly painted lantern house onto light tower and incidental related work. Cape Poge Light is a very difficult site to access due to its remote location on the northeastern tip of the long sandy barrier island of Chappaquiddick Island off Martha's Vineyard. Estimated cost of this project is between $25,000 and $100,000. SIC code is 1629. Performance time is 90 calendar days. However, actual construction time is limited to 45 calendar days. Work not to begin prior to Labor Day, September 1, 1997. The due date for receipt of bids is on or about May 28, 1997. This project is issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, and is unrestricted. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short-term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The max. line of credit is $500,000.
