46 -- ELECTROPOSITIVE FILTER CARTRIDGES SOL 97-99(N) DUE 043097 POC Grace White, Contract Specialist, (404) 842-6751 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National Center for Infectious Diseases (CDC/NCID) has a requirement for electropositive filter cartridges for virus adsorption. These filters are for a project being performed under an interagency agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency. This project is being conducted in accordance with the EPA s ICR Microbial Laboratory Manual) (EPA/600/R-95-178), which is available on the Internet at http://www.epa.gov/nerlcwww/icrmicro.pdf. The following specifications apply: The cartridge configuration shall be 24.8 cm in length, double open-ended, with flat nitrile gaskets. The cartridges shall be capable of sterilization by heat (121 C for one hour). The cartridge medium must be demonstrated to bind greater than 80 percent of poliovirus in sample with a pH of 3.5 to 8. Adsorbed virus must be stable in the cartridge for greater than 100 hours at 4 C. Greater than 40 percent of the input virus must be released from the cartridge medium using a proteinaceous solution at pH 9.5. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commerical items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as suplesmented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation, 97-99(N), is a Request for Proposal (RFP). The solicitation and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-45. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code for this procurement is 3564; the small business size standard is 500 employees. The FOB point shall be Destination, Atlanta, Georgia; delivery location is CDC/NCID, Building 1, Dock 1, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA 30333. Acceptance location will be the address of the CDC/NCID Project Officer. A requirements type contract is contemplated for a base period of twelve months and an option for one additional year. Estimated quantities are 800 filtersin the base year (Line Item 001) and 800 filters in the option year (Line Item 002).
