Research Corporation (LMER) managing and operating contractor for the
U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak
Ridge, Tennessee, intends to grant commercial royalty bearing licenses
to U.S. based companies for the intellectual property rights
associated with the subject inventions relating to silicon integrated
ferroelectrics. These inventions allow the combining of two important
classes of materials into unique monolithic heterostructures that have
significant applications in the semiconductor industry both as a
single crystal ferroelectric and a high dielectric material on silicon
substrates that will allow the production of advanced memory
architectures. LMER is now prepared to commence licensing discussions
with several U.S. based semiconductor companies. We are also interested
in the private sector conducting R&D with our staff to further develop
this technology. U.S. based companies interested in scheduling a visit
to learn more about the technology should contact the LMER Office of
Technology Transfer at 423/576-9682. We encourage written letters of
Expression of Interest on or before May 15, 1997. LMER will require the
execution of a rigid non disclosure agreement prior to any divulgation
of the silicon integrated ferroelectrics technology. Prospective
licensees will be required to submit a technology development and
commercialization plan. No licensing intermediaries please. This is not
a procurement activity. LMER is not buying any products or services
under this announcement. No funds are available for any payments to
