Villaluz, (718)-579-1647 A/E services required to prepare final design drawings, specifications and the cost estimate for the following work at Bldg. 100 of the DVA, Bronx NY. Services will include but are not limited to the design analysis, working drawings, contract documents, cost estimates and construction period services as required to renovate and/or repair existing life safety conditions throughout the medical center. These include (but are not limited to) replacing existing Locknetics systems for additional sprinkler heads in VAMC audiology booths and walk-in refrigerators and freezer boxes; installation of automatic fire sprinkler for bldg 100 warehouse loading dock; replacing missing spray-on fire safety signage; devise fire damper maintenance for designated areas; installation of electromagnetic and/or automatic door holders; modification of existing dutch doors as required; replacement and installation of gaskets/astragals on doors as required in designated area; modification of (kitchen) equipment in main and Canteen kitchens so that fuel sources are disengaged upon discharge of suppression system; installation of egress sidewalks in designated areas; replacement of existing pharmacy window in NHCU repairing of trash chute discharge door in the NHCU; and other life safety code deficiencies. A/E selection criteria will include: (1) The professional capacity of the A/E firm to accomplish the project; (2) The professional qualification of the firm's staff to be assigned to accomplish the project; (3) Past performance, if any, of the firm with respect to performance on similar VA/Government contracts; (4) Present workload of a firm as it relates to the capability of the firm to accomplish this project in a timely manner; (5) The location of the firm in relation to the VA Medical Center -- Bronx (maximum of 75 miles from Bronx). The estimated cost construction is between $250,000 and $500,000. Interested firms must submit SF 254 and SF 255 to the contracting officer before close of business (4:00 PM), May 7, 1997.
