INTERFACES The following notification is being circulated in accordance
with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.74 dated 10 March 1997. 1. Member to
Agreement notifying: AUSTRALIA. If applicable, name of local

AUSTEL (Australian Telecommunications Authority). Agency or authority
designated to handle comments regarding the notification can be
indicated if different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4.
Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national
tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where
applicable): Customer equipment connected to synchronous digital
hierarchical interfaces. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of
the notified document: TS 026: "General Requirements for Synchronous
Digital Hierarchical Interfaces." (24 Pages, in English). 6.
Description of content: This technical standard relates to customer
equipment (CE). It defines the technical conditions and requirements
for integrity and safe operation that privately owned, installed and
maintained CE will meet for connection to a telecommunications service
having SDH interfaces at STM-1 and STM-4 levels. 7. Objective and
rationale: Technical regulation consistent with Part 21 of the
Telecommunications Bill 1996. 8. Relevant documents: Listed in
