JAMAICA: AMENDMENT #1 TO STANDARD SPECIFICATION FOR APPLIANCE PROTECTION JS 195: 1991 The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.86 dated 12 March 1997. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: JAMAICA. If applicable, name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: The Bureau of Standards (Jamaica) JBS Agency or Authority designated to handle comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Electrical Appliance Protectors (Amendment). 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Amendment #1 to Standard Specification for Appliance Protection JS 195: 1991. Approximately one (1) Page. 6. Description of content: The amendment makes further provisions for the endurance and dielectric-strength tests, as well as gives requirements for additional protection when MOVS are used as spike protectors. 7. Objective and rationale: To ensure that the consumer is provided with a product of acceptable quality. 8. Relevant documents: Notice of the standard will appear in the Jamaica Gazette Supplement -- Proclamations, Rules and Regulations.
