COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 10,1997 PSA#1821SWEDEN: THE DECREE BY THE NATIONAL MARITIME ADMINISTRATION WITH
REGULATIONS CONCERNING THERMAL OIL SYSTEMS ON SHIPS The following
notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6.
G/TBT/Notif.97.90 dated 17 March 1997. 1. Member to Agreement
notifying: SWEDEN. If applicable, name of local government involved
(Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: National Maritime
Administration Agency or authority designated to handle comments
regarding the notification can be indicated if different from above. 3.
Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where
applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be
provided in addition, where applicable): Swedish ships which after 1
July 1997 are ordered at Newbuilding Shipyards, are subject to
extensive reconstruction, or are acquisitioned from another country.
Fishing vessels and pleasure boats are not covered by the decree. 5.

Decree by the National Maritime Administration With Regulations
Concerning Thermal Oil Systems on Ships. 6. Description of content: The
Rule implies requirements concerning the design of thermal oil systems
on ships. In brief, the Rule implies that the thermal oil systems must
be approved by the Swedish Maritime Administration. The Rule includes
regulations concerning the placing of the pipes, for what purposes the
thermal oil may be used and the pressure of the thermal oil coils.
There are also regulations on the construction as well as on the
material used in the system. 7. Objective and rationale: The purpose of
the Rule is to increase the safety of thermal oil systems on ships. 8.
