COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 11,1997 PSA#1822Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 H -- SUPERCONTAINER DESIGN AUTHORITY POC Sandy Bednoski, Negotiator,
(703) 325-6762, Edward L. Archer, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-5028.
The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) has a requirement to extend
DSWA contract number DNA001-95-C-0188 for one year in order to provide
continued design authority and engineering and technical services
support for Supercontainer productiion under the Cooperative Threat
Reduction program. The need to extend the contract is based on several
developments that revise the estimated completion date for all
requirements under the Supercontainer project to 30 Jun 98. These
developments include delays in the production and delivery of
Supercontainers, and the need for further testing and prototype
development of items to be included with the Supercontainers. DSWA
plans to award a sole source modification to the Atomic Weapons
Establishment (AWE) under DNA001-95-C-0188. DSWA believes that AWE is
the only responsible source given their integral involvement and
familiarity with the Supercontainer project thus far. DSWA does not
believe AWE could be replaced by another contractor without an
extensive orientation period which would cause a significant gap in
coverage which is not acceptable. Any firm desiring consideration must
fully identify their capability to perform this effort. See Note 22.
Information on DSWA solicitations, already released, can be obtained by
calling the DSWA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. As of 31 May 96,
Acquisition Management has added "Procurement Opportunities" to the
DSWA Home Page available on the World Wide Web. Information will
include this synopsis and more. Please check us out at www.dswa.mil.
