Z -- RENOVATE AND MODERNIZE LABORATORY AND OFFICE FACILITY AT THE GRAZING LANDS RESEARCH LABORATORY, EL RENO, OKLAHOMA SOL 1416-3K15-97 DUE 060697 POC Contracting Officer, Lucian Grembocki, 301-344-0245, or Vince Chaverini, Contract Specialist, 301-344-0245 Pre-Solicitation Notice -- The Government intends to issue an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for the renovation and modernization of Building No. 01 at the USDA ARS's Grazing Lands Research Laboratory and Office Facility in El Reno, Oklahoma. The existing facility is a three level building consisting of a basement and floors one and two. The total gross area for renovation is approximately 30,000 sq.ft. The building construction consists of poured in place reinforced concrete structural framing and floors. The basement walls are poured in place concrete approximately half level below grade thus allowing window openings to the basement area. Exterior windows are steel single hung with clear glass. The roof structure consists of heavy timber wood framing and wood roof deck with clay tile roof, thus creating an attic space above the second floor. The exterior walls consist of masonry back up with exterior facing brick as an exterior finish. New construction will include two new stair towers exterior to the rear of the building to satisfy current exit and egress requirements from the building. In addition, there is a requirement for a new elevator tower at the rear of the building to provide service and handicap accessibility to the building. The estimated cost of construction for this project is between $3.5 and $4.5 million dollars. Time for completion will be 365 calendar days after notice to proceed is issued. A pre-bid conference/site visit will be held on or about June 19, 1997. Sets of plans and specifications will be available for a non-refundable charge of $200.00 payable by check or money order to USDA, Agricultural Research Service, and submitted to Bernard Johnson Young, Inc., 3000 Wilcrest, Suite 200, Houston, Texas 77042-3390, Attention: Mr. Dallas Morris. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued on or about June 9, 1997, with bids due July 10, 1997. (0100)
