36 -- PRINTING PLATE PANTOGRAPH MACHINE DUE 050997 POC Contact Larry McCain, Contract Specialist, 202/874-3139. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Office of Procurement, is conducting a market research for sources with the capability for precision machine work, to manufacture special industry machinery. The BEP has a solicitation presently open for the procurement of Plate Pantograph Machines, under solicitation number BEP-95-74(TN), which has been changed to BEP-97-20(TN). The BEP presently uses a manual pantograph machine which incorporates eight separate industrial diamond tipped styluses to trace Securities Printing Plates. The pantograph is used to engrave a thirty thousandth of an inch tall, four digit number or script signatures typical of those appearing on U.S. Currency. This solicitation will change as follows: The requirement for Design and Engineering shall be removed. The Design and Engineering drawings will be provided by the BEP to all offerors. The required quantity of three (3) plate pantograph machines will be changed to two (2) plate pantograph machines. One (1) plate pantograph for the Washington, D. C. facility and One (1) plate pantograph for the Fort Worth, Texas facility. A revised solicitation package will be issued on or about June 9, 1997. All interested businesses are requested to submit letters of interest to the Contract Specialist, Larry McCain. Those businesses presently on the mailing list need not reply, as they will automatically receive a revised solicitation package.
