The Government intends to purchase on a sole source basis the following oftware and software support items manufactured and provided by Rational Software Corporation. The Government requires software and support to be completely consistent and compatible with the existing Government environment. The items are: (1) APEX ADA DUO (Conversion from APEX ADA) all platforms P/N 1100-05562 and software support (1 each); (2) APEX DUO CROSS to POWER PC Family using VXWORKS P/N 1100-05891 and software support (1 each); (3) APEX DUO CROSS to 68K Family using VXWORKS p/n 2100-03370 (1 each); (4) Rational APEX ADA 95/83, Windows NT P/N 1100-05678 and software support (1 each); (5) TESTMATE DUO for Rational APEX DUO (Conversion from TESTMATE), all platforms-SOLARIS P/N 3100-05564 and software support (1 each); (6) Rational Visual Test, Windows 95 on Windows NT, Node Locked License P/N 3100-05529 (1 each); (7) SODA BASE PRODUCT (Word Version) Windows Floating License and software support P/N 3100-04947 (1 each). The annual software support shall consists of all updates, upgrades and unlimited telephone support, Monday -- Friday excluding Government holidays, hours 8AM-5PM EST. Rational Software Corporation is the proprietary and only known source to provide the software and support. This software and support will provide a comprehensive software development environment for ADA programming language for real time mission critical applications. This set of products is an integrated family of application construction tools that automate the approach through the software lifecycle and support the definition of software architecture, coding, testing, debugging, process, change management and the documentation of software development efforts. A SUN Solaris Server will host a set of products which support the development effort with cross compilers targeting the Motorola single board computers from both the 68K and power PC families, tightly integrated with Windriver's VXWorks real time operating system. A Windows NT machine will host a second environment with the target environment being the same as the host, Windows NT operating system. This comprehensive development capability will be utilized for prototyping mission critical functions for a demonstration environment. This system will support the Computer Resource Center of the Control Systems Advanced Concepts and Technology Laboratory. This Rational development environment supporting ADA83 and ADA95 programming language versions will provide capabilities that will be integrated with an existing hardware and software environment (test equipment, processors with associated software and peripherals and network components). This development environment facilitates the porting of applications that have been developed for a previous environment and information generated, which represent a major investment in labor.Complete system capability and compatibility is absolutely necessary.
