Specialist, (202) 366-9570 The major objective of this study is to
conduct a field test to determine whether ignition interlock devices
can be effective in reducing recidivism rates among previously
convicted Driving While Suspended offenders. Another objective is to
determine whether any obtained reductions in these rates can be
maintained once these devices are removed from offenders'vehicles. The
primary products of this study will be a final technical report and a
technical article for a peer reviewed journal. It is contemplated that
a cost reimbursement type contract will be awarded for this effort. A
period of performance for forty-eight(48) months is anticipated.
