John Friedhoff, Contract Specialist, 301/496-3704. The Clinical Center
of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD intends to
negotiate with General Electric Medical Systems for a one year contract
for maintenance and support of the Scanditronix PC2048-15B positron
emission tomograph starting October 1, 1997 through September 30, 1998
with four 4) consecutive one year option periods. The project includes
preventive maintenance, transmission sources, emergency visits, spare
parts, and hardware and software upgrades to the system. The
proprietary nature of the hardware provided with the Scanditronix
PC2048-15B scanner and the unique capability of General Electric
Medical Systems to provide spare parts and maintenance/support to
justify the lack of competition in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1),
