AUSTRALIA: EXPLANATORY NOTES -- PROPOSAL P92 The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.105. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: AUSTRALIA. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Sports foods. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Explanatory Notes -- Proposal P92 (35 pages). 6. Description of content: A proposal to regulate the composition and labelling of supplementary sports foods specifically formulated to assist sports people in achieving nutritional or performance goals. 7. Objective and rationale: Consumer health and safety. 8. Relevant documents: Explanatory Notes (see 5 above) and the Australian Food Standards Code. 9. Proposed date of adoption: Recommendation to Government anticipated by mid-July 1997; Proposed date of entry into force: Anticipated towards the end of 1997 with an appropriate lead-in period. 10. Final date for comments: The domestic closing date for comments is 30 April 1997, however comments from Members will be accepted until 30 May 1997 if notice of intention to comment is received by the domestic closing date. 11.
