following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article
10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.106. 1. Member to Agreement notifying:
NETHERLANDS. If applicable, name of local government involved (Articles
3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: Ministry of Transport, Public
Works and Water Management, Directorate General of Shipping and
Maritime Affairs (DGSM). Agency or authority designated to handle
comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from
above: National Enquiry Point. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4.
Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national
tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where
applicable): The requirements of the draft regulations relate to noise
levels on board fishing vessels. 5. Title, number of pages and
language(s) of the notified document: Noise Level Regulations on Board
Fishing Vessels. 6. Description of content: The draft regulations
contain, amongst other things, standards for the maximum permissible
noise levels, requirements relating to the measurement of noise levels
and the procedures to be followed for measuring these levels, as well
as measures for reducing noise pollution (hearing protection and
warning devices). 7. Objective and rationale: The purpose of the
present draft regulations is to prevent the harm to the health and
well-being of the crew on board fishing vessels as a result of
excessive noise levels. Correct application of the requirements should
also contribute to the safety of vessels and crew. 8. Relevant
documents: N/A. 9. Proposed date of adoption: 1 June 1997; Proposed
date of entry into force: 1 July 1997. 10. Final date for comments: 20
