The National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST) has a requirement for renovations and general construction to be performed in GENERAL PURPOSE LABS located at the NIST Gaithersburg facility. The Standard Industrial Code is 1542. The corresponding size standard is $17,500,000. The Government anticipates multiple award of individual fixed-price line items, under Indefinite- Delivery-Indefinite-Quantity type contracts, each with a base year & two 12-month options. The solicitation will include a wide variety of construction tasks including 1) carpentry; rough and finished work, 2) doors, windows, glass work, 3) finish work; lath, plaster, drywall, acoustical treatment, carpet, insulation, paint, wall covering, special floor covering, 4) specialty work; demountable partitions, casework, elevated floors, 5) mechanical work; plumbing, laboratory piping, HVAC systems, and 6) electrical work; electrical power, distribution and lighting systems. Contractors will propose on individual line items which include descriptive specifications and some drawings. The total estimated magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000 including options. An anticipated minimum base year amount under each contract is $10,000.
