This acquisition is for research in the area of optical physics for the Laser and Optics Research Center. The proposed effort requires the contractor to carry out basic and applied research in the area of aberration correction for large aperture optics using real time holography. Some of the minimum capabilitiesrequired of the contractor are listed as follows: Current knowledge of state-of-the-art theory and experimental methods in the area of emphasis; ability to plan and conduct thorough, quality research in the area of aberration correction for large aperture optics using real time holography; ability to determine critical aspects of the research, determine appropriate experiments to be conducted or models to be developed, and recommend project feasibility within resource and time constraints; ability to assemble necessary equipment and conduct experiments or develop models; maintain a laboratory notebook which shall become the property of the government; ability to communicate research and development results with various individuals and publications; ability to attend meetings, write research proposals and summaries, maintain a high level of awareness for safety, and project government spending requirements for equipment, supplies, and travel. This will be a firm fixed price purchase order acquired using simplified acquisition procedures but will include a provision for a one year option period.
