COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 17,1997 PSA#1826Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION OPERATIONAL ANALYSIS MODEL (WMD) SOL
DSWA01-97-R-0029 POC Thomas L. Cox, Negotiator, (703) 325-1196, Scott
G. Morton, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-1200. The objective of this
effort will be to develop a WMD analysis module which will be usable
in theater level engagement models including the Integrated Theater
Engagement Model (ITEM), Joint Tactical Level Simulation (JTS), and
Joint Warfare System (JWARS). There is no simulation which currently
can adequately model the operational impact of WMD weapons, to include
use, effects, defense, and counterforce, at the theater-level. This
capability is essential for the analysis, development, and evaluation
of military plans, tactics, and doctrine. The primary task under this
effort is the modeling of operational effectiveness of military units,
equipment, and personnel given a specific WMD environment. The
operational effects of WMD is an important consideration for planning,
development of tactics, and exercises, especially as these weapons
proliferate throughout many third world countries. Because of the very
large potential impact these weapons may have, the ability to
accurately model them and their operational impact is critical.
Contractor personnel will require a DoD security level of SECRET RD
CNWDI. Contemplated period of performance is 25 months. Information on
DSWA solicitations, already released, can be obtained by calling the
DSWA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. As of 31 May 96, Acquisition Management
has added "Procurement Opportunities" to the DSWA Home Page available
on the World Wide Web. Information will include this synopsis and more.
