The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has in effect Contract No. 68-C5-0001 with Science Applications International Corp, 11251 Roger Bacon Drive, Reston, VA 22090. The purpose of the contract is to provide Assistance to the NRMRL Technical Support and SITE Technology Evaluation Programs. The Agency will be initiating a follow-on contract which will provide similar services with the award projected for late FY 98. However, it anticipated that the follow-on contract will not be awarded prior to the expiration of the expiration of the existing contract. As a result the Agency intends to extend Contract 68-C5-0001 by five (5) months at the current staffing levels of approximately 4700 direct labor hours. The extension will be negotiated pursuant to the authority of FAR 6.302-1 in that SAIC is the only source known by the Agency that is both capable and willing to provide the necessary level of effort to provide continued support during the interim period from the scheduled expiration of the existing contract.
