COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 18,1997 PSA#1827HQ ESC/AXK, 5 Eglin St. (Bldg. 1704), Hanscom AFB, MA 01731-2116 70 -- WORD PROCESSOR -- DESK TOP PUBLISHER EVALUATION CRITERIA POC
Robert Lencewicz, CARDS Program Manager, 617-377-9365; Michael Garrish,
Contracting Officer, 617-377-7061; Walter Ronten, Contract Negotiator,
617-377-8474. The Air Force Electronic Systems Center (ESC) at Hanscom
AFB is seeking comment from industry and other interested parties
concerning the criteria for the evaluation of word processors-desk top
publishers. The ESC product line acquisition strategy includes the
extensive reuse of large-scale software components in command and
control systems. As part of this strategy, ESC intends to continually
seek out and evaluate commercial off the shelf (COTS) and Government
off the shelf (GOTS) software products to determine their suitability
for use in the Command and Control Product Line program (CCPL). CCPL is
a follow-on program to the Portable Reusable Integrated Software Module
(PRISM) program. Two related ESC programs will perform these
evaluations. The National Product Line Asset Center (NPLACE) program
activities include acquiring software from vendors for evaluation,
testing for suitability against product line requirements and
architectural constraints, and making software products available to
Government agencies through distribution channels. The Comprehensive
Approach to Reusable Defense Software (CARDS) program activities
include developing and maintaining product line component criteria,
conducting market surveys, and performing cross product line analysis
of available software products. CARDS has developed draft suitability
criteria for the word processor-desk top publisher component of the
Command and Control Product Line Product List (PLPL).These criteria may
be accessed through the World Wide Web (WWW) at:
http://www.cards.com/criteria, or by contacting: NPLACE Attn: Word
Processor-Desk Top Publisher Criteria Representative, 1000 Technology
Drive, Fairmont WV 26554, 1-800-495-3877. All interested parties are
encouraged to provide comments within thirty (30) days of the date of
this synopsis. Your comments can be provided to the address above, or
electronically through the WWW at
http://www.cards.com/criteria/Criteria/WP-DTP.html. The Government
reserves the right to make the final decision as to thedisposition of
the comments on suitability criteria for a component. The ESC Ombudsman
for acquisition is Dr. Philip Panzarella at (617) 377-5527. This
synopsis solicits information only and does not commit the Government
to an acquisition action. (0106) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0290 19970418\70-0003.SOL)
