Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site located near Aiken, South Carolina, is seeking to determine industry interest in possible licensing of a "Portable Radiation Detection and Mapping System (RADMAPS)." This invention is a portable mapping system for detecting, locating, and characterizing nuclear materials in the environment. It integrates copyrighted software together with existing radiation detection and global positioning technologies to provide an economical radiation mapping system. Respondents will be provided with a technical brief and instructions for preparing and submitting a business plan, an integral element of the licensing process and license application. Applicants will be considered based upon the quality of business plans received. Responses to this notice must be received by May 17, 1997. Business plans must be submitted no later than June 17, 1997.
