procurement is 100 percent set aside for small business concerns. Fort
Washington Park Project NPS-FOWA 100(1), in Prince George's County,
Maryland, consists of pavement rehabilitation and slide repair work on
L'Enfant Road and erosion repair work at the Visitor Center Parking
Area and Warburton Drive Parking Lot Number 2. The work includes
grading, drainage, hot asphalt concrete pavement, drilled microshaft
construction, curb and gutter, and other miscellaneous work. Principal
items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Unclassified
borrow, 2,215 CUYD; Aggregate base, Grading C or D, 1,440 TON; Hot
asphalt concrete pavement, 1,425 TON; Drilled microshafts, 2,920 LNFT;
24-inch pipe culvert, 1,060 LNFT. The project is expected to fall
within the price range of $250,000 to $750,000, and has a proposed
completion date of September 30, 1997. Invitation for Bids No.

is strongly recommended that all requests for bid documents and

1997, at 2:00 pm, local time, at the Federal Highway Administration

following applies to Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business
Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and
Disadvantaged Business Utilization has bonding programs to assist
minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises in
acquiring short-term capital and bonding assistance for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates up to
$500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing. The DOT Bonding
Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and
payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80 percent
guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. For further
