The Grand Coulee Power Office, Grand Coulee, Washington, has a requirement for a debris boom and boat restraining barrier. We are looking for a boom equal to or better than the boom offered by RRS Industries, Inc. Salient characteristics are 1) foam filled, rotationally molded and ballasted; 2) minimum weight of 120 pounds and maximum of 130 pounds including attachment hardware for connecting logs in a series, with this 70% of the barrier must be out of the water; 3) dimensions 15" outside diameter by 11' long, featuring longitudinal ribbing for rigidity and stability, .250 inch nominal wall thickness; 4) outer shell made of linear low density polyethylene, with anti-oxidants and ultra violet ray inhibitor compounded into formulation of the base resin; 5) high visibility traffic orange color; 6) ballast to provide a displacement factor of 30% of the boom; 7) boom to be filled with closed cell polystyrene foam; 8) all fittings to be sealed with silicone to ensure water-tight integrity; 9) connection plates will be galvanized and 1/2"x4"x20" with a 3/4" galvanized bolt. We currently have log booms from RRS, Industries Inc. and therefore connections need to be compatible in order to connect with boom already in place.; 10) FERC approved as a positive boat barrier.
