70 -- NATIONAL PATIENT CLAIMS DATABASE SOL 97-75(N) POC Patrick Gourley, Contract Specialist, (404) 842-6719 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a contract for a national, multi-year, private sector, claims database that will provide inpatient and outpatient claims to assess the utilization and costs for health care services in a defined population. The database shall include multi-year data covering paid medical claims and be accompanied by personal computer, workstation based software specifically designed to manage and analyze the data. The Government must be able to use the database to identify the direct medical cost of a specific health outcome for the purpose of assessing the effectiveness of public health intervention or prevention programs. Health outcomes of interest include but are not limited to, Group C meningococcus, Giardiasis, Asthma, Pneumococcal pneumonia, Influenza, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. Data and software must be easily integrated into the existing hardware used by the Government without advanced statistical or computer training. The solicitation will be issued in accordance with the procedures of FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and will be available on or about May 9, 1996.
