B -- ELK STUDY THROUGH A SERIES OF AGENCY AND PUBLIC SCOPING MEETING TO DTEREMIN THE EFFECT OF ELK ON AGENCY ADMINISTERED LANDS AND PRIVATE PROPERTY. SOL 1443RQ712097002 DUE 053097 POC Tammy K. Gallegos, Contracting Officer, (505-672-3861 ext. 504 E-MAIL: Interagency Elk Study, Tammy_Gallegos@nps.gov. The population of elk within the contiguous areas of the Jemez and Espanola Ranger Districts of the Santa Fe National Forest, Bandelier National Monument, Department of Energy/Los Alamos National Laboratory administered land and Los Alamos County, New Mexico appear to have grown to levels threatening natural and cultural resources, private property and public safety. It also appears the current methods to control the size of the elk population have not been suffient and as a result the agencies mentioned above and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish have established an interagency workgroup to explore problems and potential solutions related to the elk population. The agencies through means of a service contract will have a series of scoping meetings which will include all agencies associated with the lands affected by the elk population as well as all concerned citizens, local pueblos and organizations who have an interest in elk management and related problems to solicit and develop a full range of potential solutions. Interested contractors must provide current or past experince in their ability to hold public scoping meetings and possess or have the ability to acquire expertise in resource management issues pertaining to wildlife management. This is a time sensitive contract and will be performed according to an agency prepared progress schedule. The lead agency in this endeavor is Bandelier National Monument and all information requests pertaining to this contract shall be requested from the contact person noted above. (0107)
