The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity intends to acquire
Scientific and Technical Support Services for the U.S. Army Center for
Environmental Health Research (USACEHR). The USACEHR conducts basic
and applied research in support of the Surgeon General's responsibility
to protect public health and the environment from the effects of
military industrial and training operations and to protect deployed
military and civilian personnel from health hazards associated with
environmental contamination present in the deployment area. Chemical
substances used, generated, or present in such operations, including
but not limited to general industrial chemicals, explosives,
propellants, pesticides, smokes and obscurants, are studied as to their
toxic effects and environmental significance. Scientific and biomedical
data bases are developed and environmental monitoring strategies are
evaluated. The plan is to award one contract for a base period of
twelve (12) months plus four option periods of twelve (12) months each
for a total of sixty (60) months. All requests for the RFP package
must be in writing and must be received within 15 calendar days after
