Sozanski, 617/495-7376,, FAX 617/496-7692 Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory intends to award on a Sole Source basis, a purchase order, to New Focus, Inc., Santa Clara, California, for two each Tunable Diode Laser Systems, centered around 835 nm with 15-20 MW Power over 10 nm tuning range, model 6226; one each 25 GHZ Detector, VIS-IR, Model 1434; and 2 each 850 nm Optical Isolators, Model 5568, the 6226 laser incorporates a wave length readout with an absolute accuracy of 0.1 nm. The laser controller of the 6226 laser system is equipped with piezo transducer that provides fine frequency control down to 10 MHz through a GPIB bus. The systems are for the purpose of developing laser based sub- millimeter wave source, relevent to the sub-millimeter receiver development work in the receiver laboratory of the Radio and Geoastronomy Division of the Observatory.
