The National Institutes of Health, (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase services from Samaritan Health Services, Good Samaratan Regional Medical Center, 111 East McDowell Road, Phoenix, Arizona, 85006 for Positron Emission Tomographic (PET) Scans on a sole source basis. The PET scanning will be used to identify regions of the brain involved in hunger, taste, and satiety. Samaritan PET Center has been chosen because no other source has been identified in the state of Arizona, where the volunteers are located, which is able to perform these procedures. Transportation of volunteers to a distant site would be impractical and would compromise the results of the scan by removing the patient from the controlled environment. The services needed have specific specifications that must be met and are described in the Request for Quotation (RFQ) pagckage. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. All requests for quotations must be within the Simplified Acquisition Thereshold of $100,000. It is anticipated that the RFQ package NIH-NIDDK-97-259 will be available (fifteen) 15 days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated anticipated award date is May 15, 1997.
