J -- REPAIR SOURCE SEEKING SYNOPSIS SOL F34601-97-R-00001 DUE 042897 POC For copy, Madeline Clements/Lpdpa/[405]739-4496, For additional information contact Madeline Clements/Lpdpa/[405]739-4496 THIS IS A REPAIR SOURCE SEEKING SYNOPSIS __ ___ A requirement exists for the Air Force to repair and modify a limited number of TF33 Combustion Chamber Duct Assemblies, typical P/N 453622. General requirements are: (1) to inspect and repair parts IAW Air Force T.O. 2J-TF33-53-6, WP 04100 and 2J-TF33-53-7, WP 04100 and (2) to modify parts IAW Pratt/Whitney Service Bulletin No. 766. The Combustion Chamber Duct is a fabricated, 36 inch round assembly. The duct has an integral inner and outer wall. The outer wall is of a louvered construction. The material for the walls and front face of the duct is Nickel alloy AMS 5536 (Hastelloy X). There are 8 combustion chamber portholes and a center opening on the front face of the duct. The 8 portholes have a welded flange that connects to the combustion cans at engine assembly. The flange material is Cobalt Alloy AMS 5759 (L605 or Haynes 25). Specific repairs of the duct consist of the welding of cracks, oven heat treat, dimensional restorations via forming and plasma coat. Service Bulletin 766 Modification consists of the drilling of small cooling holes at the porthole flanges. Experience has shown that conventional machine drilling of the Cobalt Alloy is extremely difficult due to the work hardening nature of the material. Special drilling methods, such as laser or electro discharge may be required. THE AIR FORCE WILL HOLD A SEMINAR AT 1300 HOURS ON 28 APRIL 1997 AT TINKER AFB OKLAHOMA, TO ALLOW ALL PROSPECTIVE VENDORS TO VIEW A SAMPLE PART. IN ADDITION, TECHNICAL, ENGINEERING AND REQUIREMENTS PERSONNEL FROM THE AIR FORCE WILL BE ON HAND TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND DISCUSS REQUIREMENTS. ALL INTERESTED PARTIES MUST CONTACT MADELINE CLEMENTS, OCALC/LPDPA, A/C 405- 739-4496 (FAX NUMBER 405-739-4237), FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. The approximate issue/response date will be 18 APR 97.
