R -- PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ASSOCIAATED WITH SEVERAL INSTITUTE RESEARCH PROJECTS SOL RFQ70070-NS DUE 051397 POC Patricia Haun, Contracting Officer 301-496-8613 The National Cancer Institute intends to issue a sole source solicitation to Dr. Hiraki Mitsuya of Kumamoto University, School of Medicine, Japan, for professional services associated with several Institute research projects. Dr. Mitsuya is a former NCI Investigator for approximately fifteen years and was last assigned to the Institute's Medicine Branch, Experimental Retrovirology Section when he resigned in April, 1997. It is imperative for the NCI to continue the research initiated and/or led by Dr. Mitsuya when he was an Institute employee and his contnued involvement in these projects will greatly facilitate and maintain focus in antiviral agents within the NCI Division of Clinical Sciences. A partial list of projects currently anticipated are: Continued studies of novel agents active against HIV-1; Drug discovery efforts involving several new KNI-272 related protease inhibitors; and extend study of multi-dideoxynucleoside resistant MDR HIV-1 variants during combination chemotherapy.
