66 -- AUTOMATED BACTERIA IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM SOL 4384-009-97 DUE 050997 POC Elaine Wood, Contracting Officer, 706-546-3534 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number RFQ-009-4384-97 is issued as a request for quotations and incorporates provisions and clauses that are in effect through FAC 90-44. The standard industrial classification code is 3826, with a small business standard of 500 employees. This acquisition will be procured under a small business set-aside. Delivery is required within 6 weeks after receipt of an order. Delivery is FOB Destination to USDA, ARS, Russell Research Center, Athens, GA. Any interested/qualified sources who can provide the item above must respond by May 9, 1997. Descriptive liberature showing that the quoted instrument meets all specifications included herein must accompany the quotation. The government will award a contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsive/responsible offeror whose offer conforms to the solicitation and is most price advantageous to the government. AUTOMATED BACTERIAL IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS: This equipment will be used to identify microorganisms present in biofilms from the poultry processing environment. Specific specifications include 1. Allows rapid identification of over 1100 species of bacteria and yeast, 2. Utilizes redox chemistry as primary method of identification, 3. Performs at least 95 carbon substrate tests per sample, 4. Uses a microplate reader integraded with system software (reader, pipetter, turbidimeter, colony magnifier lamp,120 pentium 16MB RAM, 850 MB HD IDE, 1.44 MB Floppy Drive, 8X CD rom drive, tape backup, diamond stealth video card and SVGA monitor are to be included in the quotation) 5. Patterns from unidentified species can be cataloged for future comparisons, 6. Acceptance of equipment is contingent on demonstration of performance to satisfaction of end user. (0112)
