COLOMBIA: DRAFT REQUEST TO GIVE MANDATORY FORCE TO COLOMBIAN TECHNICAL STANDARD 2054 (TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT, BICYCLES, SAFETY REQUIREMENTS) (FIRST UPDATE) IN RESPECT OF REQUIREMENTS FOR SUB-ASSEMBLIES, SECTION 3, REQUIREMENTS FOR BICYCLES The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Draft Request to Give Mandatory Force to Colombian Technical Standard 2054 (Transportation Equipment, Bicycles, Safety Requirements) (First Update) in Respect of Requirements for Sub-Assemblies, Section 3, Requirements for Bicycles (48 pages). 6. Description of content: The purpose of Colombian Technical Standard 2054 (Transportation equipment, bicycles, safety requirements) is to establish the safety and performance requirements for the design, assembly and testing of bicycles and sub-assemblies, and it does not include instruction manuals for the use and maintenance of the bicycles. It applies to bicycles intended for use on public roads and whose saddles can be adjusted to a height of 635 mm. or more. It does not apply to special types of bicycles such as delivery bicycles, tandems, toy bicycles or bicycles designed for use in competitive events. 7. Objective and rationale: Protection of human life and health and consumer protection. 8. Relevant documents: Colombian Technical Standard 2054. 9.
