REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE APPLICATION OF 1995 AMENDMENTS TO THE 1974
CONVENTION FOR THE SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA The following notification is
being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.123.
1. Member to Agreement notifying: SWEDEN. If applicable, name of local
government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible:
National Maritime Administration. Agency or authority designated to
handle comments regarding the notification can be indicated if
different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products
covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff
heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable):
Swedish ships. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the
notified document: The Decree by the Swedish Maritime Administration
with Regulations Concerning the Application of 1995 Amendments to the
1974 Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (7 pages). 6. Description
of content: The rule implies requirements concerning three areas: (a)
Radio communications (SOLAS Chapter IV) i.a. rules concerning radio
installations and radio equipment; (b) safety of navigation (SOLAS
Chapter V), i.a. rules concerning distress messages, the Master's
discretion for safe navigation, manning, search and rescue; (c)
carriage of cargoes (SOLAS Chapter VI), rules about stowage and
securing. 7. Objective and rationale: The purpose of the rule is to
increase the safety on ships. 8. Relevant documents: Not listed. 9.
