SWEDEN: THE DECREE BY THE SWEDISH MARITIME ADMINISTRATION WITH REGULATIONS CONCERNING AMENDMENTS TO THE DECREE BY THE SWEDISH MARITIME ADMINISTRATION (1996:5) WITH REGULATIONS CONCERNING LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCES AND ARRANGEMENTS ON SHIPS COMPRISED BY THE 1974 CONVENTION FOR THE SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.133. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: SWEDEN. If applicable, name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: National Maritime Administration. Agency or authority designated to handle comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Swedish ships on international voyage or on a voyage between a port on Gotland and the Swedish mainland and other Swedish ships on international voyage, except small cargo ships, primitive wooden ships, pleasure boats and fishing vessels. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: The Decree by the Swedish Maritime Administration with Regulations Concerning Amendments to the Decree by the Swedish Maritime Administration(1996:5) with Regulations Concerning Life-Saving Appliances and Arrangements on Ships Comprised by the 1974 Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (10 pages). 6. Description of content: The rule implies requirements on the following areas: regulations concerning public address systems and escape ways, life-rafts, fast rescue boats, means of rescue, life-jackets, information about passengers, helicopter landing and pick-up areas and decisions-support system for masters in emergency situations on ro-ro passenger ships. 7. Objective and rationale: The purpose of the rule is to increase the safety on ships concerning lifesaving appliances and other arrangements. 8. Relevant documents: The Decree by the National Maritime Administration (1996:5) with regulations concerning life-saving appliances and arrangements on ships comprised by the 1974 Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. 9.
