Daigle Sealed bids from all business concerns will be accepted for the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Project NPS-CUGA 58(2) in Lee County, Virginia. The project consists of the relocation of US Route 58 within the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in Virginia. The project starts at the Tennessee/Virginia border and proceeds eastward for 1.72 miles, ending at a project currently being constructed on US Route 58 by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The project includes grading, drainage, aggregate base, hot asphalt concrete pavement, and other associated work. Principal items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Roadway Excavation: 350,000 CUYD; Aggregate Base (Bed Course): 13,000 TON; Structural Concrete, Class A: 400 CUYD; Class A Masonry: 31 CUYD; 24 to 36 inch pipe culverts: 2800 LNFT. The project is expected to fall within the price range of $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Invitation for Bids No. DTFH71-97-B-00014 to be issued on or about May 12, 1997. The following applies to Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has bonding programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises in acquiring short-term capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates up to $500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
