Gladys Grebner 309-681-6612 The U.S. Department of Agriculture,
Agricultural Research Service, Midwest Area has a requirement to
purchase a scrapped surface heat exchanger (margarine), splashguard,
and data logging accessory for the NCAUR, Peoria IL. This is a combined
synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. This is being issued as a Request for
Quotation. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and
clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular
90-45. This solicitation is 100% small business set-aside SIC #3556,
500 employees. CLIN 0001 Armfield scrapped surface heat exchanger
(margarine) part #FT25 B-B or equal, 1 each. CLIN 0002 splash guard
Armfield part #FT25B-15 or equal, 1 each. CLIN 0003 data logging
accessory Armfield part #FT25-90-IFD or equal, 1 each. The salient
characteristics that an approved equal must meet are as follows: Must
be new -- not remanufactured equipment. The feed pump must have a
positive displacement and PTFE diaphragm. Throughput must be 20
liters/hr max, normal capacity 10 liters/hr. Heat transfer area must be
0.045m2. Shaft speed must be 0-400rpm. Barrel length (exchanger) must
be 0.35m. Barrel length (pin worker) must be 0.26m. Number of pins on
pin worker shaft must be 20. Number of pins on pin worker barrel must
be 42. Resting tube must be 2.5 mins at 15 liters/hr throughput.
Shipping volume must not exceed 1.4m3. Gross weight must not exceed
250kg. Overall height must not exceed 1.1m. Overall width must not
exceed 0.9m. Overall depth must not exceed 0.7m. Normal throughput must
be 10 liters/hr -- margarine. Must have readily selectable coolant
temperatures down to -10 degree Celsius. Must have integral control
console for accurate monitoring of all salient conditions. Must have
fully self-contained system in mobile cabinet. Must have data logging
outputs of 5 system temperatures and barrel pressure. Must have
application for production of margarines, soft spreads and shortenings.
Delivery to be within 5 months after receipt of order to USDA-ARS-MWA,
1815 N. University St., Peoria, IL 61604. The resultant contract will
