58 -- SURVIVAL RADIO AND BEACON SOL N00019-97-R-0027 POC Contact, Jackie Jones, Phone (703)604-2119 The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a competitive solicitation for a replacement to the Personal Locator Beacon/Voice Transreceiver and Dual Frequency Locator Transmitter. The resulting contract will be firm fixed price for an estimated quantity of 20 transreceivers and 20 transmitters with four options with an estimated quantity of not to exceed 20,000 transmitters and 5,000 transreceivers. The Personal Locator Beacon/Voice Transreceiver is a hand held emergency commmunciation and radio locator beacon. The Dual Frequency Emergency Locator Transmitter is to be form, fit, and function replacement for the AN/URT-33A/B/C. The transreceiver and transmitter should operate as a half duplex AM voice radio at 282.8 MHz and 243.0 MHz with a locator beacon of 121.5 MHz and 234.0 MHz. The transreceiver locator should utilize 406.025 MHz in conjunction with COSPAS/SARSAT satellites with integrated GPS as an objective. All equipment shall be COSPAS/SARSAT certified as well as meet U.S. Navy performance specifications. Firms will be responsible for the depot, maintenance, and reliability of the transreceivers and transmitters. A technical package will be available to firms requesting more technical information. Firms possessing the above desrcibed capabilitites are invited to submit samples and information regarding their product. It is estimated that receipt of the proposals will required on or about 23 October 1997.
