The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for advanced software development in satellite data processing and meteorological satellite applications technology areas for the new TESS NC project. TESS NC is a computer workstation based environmental diagnosis/forecast system to provide environmental guidance for battle-group operations and weapon performance. This project emphasizes two aspects of the satellite data processing and analysis: (1) the development of the meteorological satellite imagery applications, the development of automated satellite interpretation techniques for satellite images using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) analysis tools; and (3) the development of the data processing of satellite sounder data. Tasks shall include, but not limited to conduct of surveys, perform research and develop technical reports, determination of optimum hardware or software for an application; perform timing analysis, develop life cycle requirements, application design analysis, development and integration of application, verification and validation, enhancement implementation and various configuration management system documentation.
