The National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service
(NESDIS) has a requirement for the development of a Geostationary
Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) backup command and control
station (GBACCS). The GBACCS will serve to provide a single string
backup to command, control, and instrument data pre-processing for the
GOES mission should the Wallops Command and Data Acquisition (CDA)
station, Wallops Island, VA, become inoperable. Most of the GOES ground
systems for the GBACCS are to be off-the-shelf "clones" of the current
operational systems at the Wallops CDA station. The GBACCS project
includes custom electronics chassis fabrication, integration and test
of seven GOES ground systems, and overall station integration of the
systems and of at least five Government furnished Equipments/Systems.
The station shall be integrated to NOAA/NESDIS standards for CDA
facilities. The location of the GBACCS is expected to be within 500
miles of the Washington metro area but isyet to be determined. If the
actual site is not determined and formal agreements are not in place at
the time of contract award the Wallops CDA station will be used for
equipment/system staging and test. Requirement includes option item for
up to two years of optional on call support. Period of performance is
21 months after date of contract. Standard Classification code is 7373.
